Houston, Texas (June 01, 2005) - Entrepreneur magazine has released its highly anticipated annual Hot 100 listing of the fastest-growing new companies in the United States. This year's listing was assembled from an initial list of fast-growing companies compiled by PricewaterhouseCoopers. After posting 1500% revenue growth last year, Houston based Webxites was honored as the 50th fastest growing companies in the U.S.
This year's honorees cross a wide spectrum of industries from finance to cleaning services. Taking the top spot this year is Huron Consulting Group, a Chicago-based financial and operational consulting firm. 2005 marks Webxites 1st year on the Hot 100, but it definitely won't be its last. Founded by Gene McCubbin in 2001, Webxites is a national leader in search engine and interactive marketing services for small businesses. Each Hot 100 company was founded no earlier than 2000, had annual sales that exceeded $1 million in 2004, and has a founder who is actively involved in daily operations. Entrepreneur reports that the hottest industry this year is technology, with 20 of the 100 companies listed falling into this category. This year's Hot 100 companies report $1.5 billion in total sales, a substantial increase from the $795.3 million reported by the companies in 2004. This year's Hot 100 companies also raised over 10 times as much startup capital as last year's group, an increase from $62.1 million to $631.1 million.
